Next week

In Grammar class, we will be looking at action verbs, helping verbs, and linking verbs. In addition, we will practice selecting words that are better suited for describing certain scenes and scenarios. In Social Studies, we will continue using cardinal and intermediate directions to identify locations on an atlas and on a globe. Toward the end of the week, we will take a practice continent and ocean test. The end of the unit test will be given during the following week. Please take a look at your child's Social Studies Conference Checklist form to determine how well they are able to spell the seven continents and four oceans, as spelling will count on the final test.

  • Reading:  Our main skills to practice this week are comparing and contrasting, reading with expression and making predictions.  We will also be working on the -y and -ous suffixes.  New reading logs went home today and will be due next THURSDAY (no school Friday).  Please take a minute to check your homes for any books that belong to our classrooms. We are missing MANY books from the classroom and would love them back if nobody is reading them.  Thank you!

  • Math: This week we will work on mixed word problems, place value to thousands and rounding numbers.  There has been some improvement in the time test scores.  Please continue to practice your math facts nightly.
