Thank you parents and students!!!
Everyone made it home without glitch or incident yesterday! The students were well prepared and knew exactly what to do. I had several students call home to double check and no one was alarmed or frustrated. Thank you! It was a real simple process for our classroom as everyone had their Early Dismissal Form to refer to and ease any of our concerns. Thank you for taking the time and effort at the beginning of the year to accurately complete this task. All went well!!
Science Grades
All the of the Science Shark Keynote Projects have been shared and graded. The scores were passed out on Friday, so ask your child about their results. Nice job, everyone! I did include their ability to demonstrate the use of the keyboarding skills and their level of understanding how to run a the Keynote software in their score, as this was part of the objectives and we have been learning to use these technological advances all trimester. It was an exciting and creative project! On a side note....I can't wait for the Keyboarding test!!!
Winter!

It is nearing 3:00, and our buses are still delivering children home. They appear to be running, at the end of our routes, about 20 minutes behind. Of course, the weather gods messed with all of us yet again. At about 9:30 this morning when the decision was made by the area districts to release students early, the forecasters were predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow and high winds during the afternoon hours. Nearly every district in the area - and most across the southern two thirds of the state - had an early release. By early afternoon, after our buses were already on the road, the snow totals and the wind speeds were downgraded. Still, it was a slippery ride home for everyone, and the extra time and daylight probably didn't hurt.
I've been involved in making weather related decisions for twenty years now. It is not the best part of my job but it does occasionally provide a light moment. Just a few years back, you may remember, WCCO's (then new) automated television announcement system had a glitch in it. This mistake set off a flurry of phone calls here at my expense, but I've had more than a bit of good fun with it over the passing years. Some of you may not have seen the announcement made that day. Flashed across the television screens for most of the state to see was the following message:
Based on the fun I've had today, this may in fact be the case (for me at least) Friday morning!
Thanks to all of you who calmly handled the heightened emotions that always emerge when the winter weather disrupts lives and schedules. I appreciate your extra efforts to keep kids safe on these challenging days. Stay well. Greg
PS. And, keep thinking spring!

Chapters 2 and 3. On My Honor pg24
click here to view on my honor pg24
The Chapter Two and Three questions have been assigned as homework for Tuesday night. Some of the students were finished with the questions through Chapter Three and some stated that the substitute did not assign the Chapter Two questions. I have chosen to allow the students extra time to complete the questions through Chapter 3 as homework. We completed Chapter One Questions 1, 2, and 4 together. We discussed Chapter One Question #3 and we answered Chapter Two Question #9 together. We also discussed all of the Chapter 3 question and answered Question #11 together. Please look over your child's work to see that they are answering the questions using our REGS format. If they are not done with a particular question and did not take home their book, know that I have placed Chapter Two and Three on the blog.
Enjoy the story!
